Past summer we had the opportunity to host a design intern from the Centre of Urban Design and Mental Health and reconnect with a long-time collaborator Architect Le Trong Hoang Minh to produce a wonderful scheme for Urbanarium's Decoding Timber competition held in partnership with Tsawwassen First Nation. This research creation project was informed by a thoughtful paper in the Journal of Mental Health and Climate Change, and brought together considerations of climate, community, evidence-informed programs, and a sustainable product cycle that heals the city amid housing, climate, and opioid crises -- all within a narrative that centers culture as medicine. It was fun and somewhat relaxing to re-engage in making! Check out the full panels below:
