Our vision: EQUIGENESIS. Health equity is place-based. As lifespan increases, urban communities across the globe will become more neurodiverse. Transformative approaches are required so places are health-promoting for all. We test innovative healthtech and community development strategies for primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention.
OUR KNOWLEDGE BASE
Featured Publications: Foundational Concepts for Place-based Health Equity
NEIGHBOURHOOD ATMOSPHERE
Atmosphere moderates how much seniors benefit from spending time in the neighbourhood. It is a relational outcome shaped by programmatic and design elements, which has important population health implications.
MESO-LEVEL PSYCHOSOCIAL FACTORS
Foregrounded in the Transdisciplinary Neighbourhood Health Framework, communities have characteristics such as Cohesion, At-homeness, and Playfulness which are important mechanisms for community wellbeing.
CONTEXTUAL IMPLEMENTATION
How are what interventions effective for whom? Those with multimorbidity or mobility devices are less likely to go about their neighbourhoods if not for friendly faces. Place-based interventions must be tailored to local characteristics.
